How DOES ProShield® 5000 WORK?
ProShield® 5000 is a unique positively charged polymer network that chemically bonds to the treated surfaces. In addition to the electrical charged surface, the product produces an enormous amount of quaternary amine swords that puncture bacterial cell membranes to eliminate any possibility of continued bacterial growth. How is it applied?
Commercial Laundry Application
Run a complete wash cycle, including final rinse and extraction. Start a new cycle and fill the machine with hot water (120ºF). Add 6% on weight of goods (6 pounds ProShield® 5000D to 100 pounds of laundry). Run for 20 minutes at 120ºF to exhaust the ProShield® 5000D. Drop the bath without rinsing, extract, unload goods and dry as usual.
Residential Laundry Application
Run the normal complete wash cycle, including final rinse and extraction. Do not remove the fabric to be treated from the washer. Start a new cycle and fill the machine with hot water (120ºF). This temperature is very important to the efficacy of the application. Since most washers fill hot at less than 120ºF, it is necessary to do one of two things. Either 1). boil a pot of water and add it to the wash water to raise the temperature above 120ºF or 2). turn both the thermostats on hot water heater to their maximum settings. Give the water time to heat, then fill the washer with water at the highest temperature setting. Add 10 ounces of ProShield® 5000D. Drop to the wash water (for full load of fabric). Run for 20 minutes at 120ºF to exhaust the ProShield® 5000D. Drop the wash water without rinsing, spin dry, unload fabric and dry as usual. This fabric treatment should be effective for the life of the garment. Don’t forget to reset the hot water heater thermostat to its original settings.
